Yaprak KURBAN, a member of the executive board of the IHD Dersim Branch, is a human rights defender who has been advocating for human rights for many years and is actively involved in the struggle for women’s rights. She is a graduate student.
She was taken into custody in Dersim on April 17, 2026, and was subsequently arrested by the court on April 20, 2026, and sent to the Bakırköy Women’s Closed Prison.
She was transported from Dersim to Istanbul for investigative proceedings in handcuffs during an 18-hour journey; her requests for basic necessities such as water and a blanket were not met.
