Tuğba Kahraman holds a university degree in philosophy and has professional experience in various fields, including banking. She has for many years been professionally engaged with the Human Rights Association (IHD), serving in executive and administrative capacities at both the IHD Headquarters and its branches. Since 15 June 2025, she has served as a member of the Executive Board of the İHD Ankara Branch, while also continuing her longstanding professional work as a staff member of the IHD Headquarters. In addition to her organisational responsibilities, she has actively contributed to the IHD’s human rights advocacy and monitoring work through its specialised commissions. In particular, she has been involved in the work of the İHD Headquarters’ Disaster and Ecology Commission and, since 16 July 2023, has been an active member of the Ecology Commission of the IHD Ankara Branch. Her longstanding professional and organisational engagement with the IHD forms an integral part of her legitimate human rights activities.

She has been in prison since 25 June 2026 on charges of "being a member of an illegal organisation" and "making propaganda for an illegal organisation".
