Uladzimir Yanukevich was the director and editor-in-chief of the independent regional newspaper Intex-Press.

He had previously faced persecution. He was tried twice and fined under administrative law for publishing an interview with Tsikhanouskaya. In February 2023, security forces searched the Intex-Press publishing house.

On February 27, 2026, the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) reported that Yanukevich had been charged under Article 356 of the Criminal Code ("high treason"). He was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment and fined 3,000 base units.
