Raoufeh Mirbagheri, a women's rights activist, was arrested and sentenced to prison for her participation in the 2022 nationwide protests and her advocacy for women's rights. She was detained by IRGC intelligence forces in Tonekabon, Mazandaran Province. The Sari Revolutionary Court sentenced her for her human rights activities and efforts toward gender equality, imposing penalties such as a travel ban and a prohibition on joining political and civil groups. This women's rights activist was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sari to eight months of imprisonment. Additionally, as supplementary punishment, she was given a two-year ban on leaving the country, prohibited from joining political and social groups, barred from forming any groups, and had some of her belongings confiscated.
Raoufeh Mirbagheri's eight-month prison sentence has come to an end. She spent approximately two months of her sentence in the prisons of Sari and Tonekabon, and the last six months were served outside of prison under electronic monitoring.
