Sara Jahani, a pharmacist and women's rights activist from Gilan Province, was arrested for her activism in support of women's rights and for promoting the slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom." After being summoned to court and reporting to the enforcement branch, she was transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht.

Ms. Jahani was sentenced to six years, one month, and 17 days of imprisonment by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht, presided over by Judge Mahdi Rasakhee. This sentence was ultimately upheld by Branch 11 of the Appeals Court of Gilan Province, presided over by Judge Mohammad Sadegh Iran Aqideh.
The execution of Ms. Jahani's prison sentence has taken place while she is suffering from MS (Multiple Sclerosis). According to the latest news from Hrana, she has been granted medical leave.
