Together with Konstantin Gabov, Sergei Karelin is accused of preparing material for the YouTube channel of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which has been declared an extremist organisation by the Russian authorities. This is a project of the opposition leader and political prisoner Alexei Navalny, who was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment and later died in a colony.
