Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee is an Iranian writer and human rights activist known for her criticism of stoning practices and advocacy for women's rights. She was sentenced to prison in 2014 for writing an unpublished story on the topic. After her release in 2019, she continued her activism and was re-arrested during the 2022 protests following Mahsa Amini's death. In April 2023, she received a new prison sentence for her activism, highlighting ongoing repression against human rights defenders in Iran

Ms. Iraee was sentenced to 7 years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, and additionally to 2 years of prohibition from leaving the country, 2 years of prohibition from being present in Tehran, 2 years of prohibition from participating in parties, groups, and factions, and the confiscation of her mobile phone as supplementary punishments. This sentence was reduced to 5 years in prison by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals, presided over by Judges Abbasali Hozan and Khosrow Khalili Mahdirji. She was also sentenced as part of the supplementary punishment to a two-year ban on membership in parties, groups, and factions, a ban on being present in Tehran, a prohibition on leaving the country, and the confiscation of her mobile phone.
