Hooman Taheri, a civil and human rights activist from Gilan Province, was arrested for participating in peaceful protests and supporting women's rights and social freedoms. Along with several other activists, he was tried by the Rasht Revolutionary Court and convicted on charges of "propaganda against the regime." Hooman Taheri was sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, presided over by Judge Mehdi Rasekhi. This sentence was ultimately upheld by Branch 11 of the Gilan Provincial Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Mohammad Sadegh Iran Aqideh.
