Ayachi Hammami is a lawyer and human rights defender who served as Minister Delegate to the Tunisian Prime Minister for Human Rights in 2020. He is also a member of the legal defense team representing political detainees.

Recent case update / evolution

Since the initiation of the case publicly known as the “Conspiracy Against State Security”, Ayachi Hammami was included among the defendants on 3 May 2023. He was summoned for interrogation on 10 October 2023. The investigating judge subsequently placed him under judicial supervision, including a travel ban, while allowing him to remain at liberty.

On 18 April 2025, he was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment. The appellate court later reduced the sentence to five years on 28 November 2025.

On 2 December 2025, he was arrested at his residence to serve the final sentence.
