Saman Ostovar, a Bahá'í citizen and education activist, faced security-related charges and was sentenced to imprisonment for his efforts in establishing a school with a modern educational system. Saman began his social activities by teaching young Bahá'ís who were deprived of education. Following the 2003 Bam earthquake, he provided educational support to children in the affected areas, which led to his arrest and conviction. Subsequently, he founded a school that focused on a novel educational approach emphasizing nurturing individual talents, eliminating grade-based competition, and creating a stress-free and joyful environment for children. He is considered a prominent child rights activist in Iran.
