Bi Bi Sediqa is a 17-year-old Afghan girl from Murichaq village in Bala Murghab District, Badghis Province of Afghanistan. She has resisted a forced marriage since childhood. At around age 12, she was reportedly taken to the home of an influential local man because of her father’s debt. She later refused to marry him despite pressure from Taliban authorities and reportedly chose imprisonment rather than accept the forced marriage.

Her case was taken before Taliban courts in Badghis and later to Kandahar. She remains detained in Qala-e-Naw prison in Badghis. Her case has raised serious concerns regarding women’s and girls’ rights, forced marriage, access to justice, and gender-based persecution.
