Ilakkiya was brought to the Special Cell office, New Friends Colony, where she was interrogated and subjected to threats and verbal abuse targeting her caste of Ilakkiya. After interrogation, she was taken to a cell where she was forced to stare bright neon lights in the room till her release on 14 March 2026.
Recent case update / evolution
After the abduction of the activist, an Habeous Corpus petition has been filed before the High Court of Delhi. The Court has ordered a detailed enquiry into the torture and illegal detention. The court is awaiting reports from the Concerned Police.
