Dr. Aslı Aydemir is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, and academic. She completed her master’s and doctoral degrees in social psychology at Istanbul University and is currently writing her thesis in the psychoanalytically oriented clinical psychology master’s program.
She is one of the Academics for Peace who signed the “We Will Not Be Complicit in This Crime” statement. She approaches psychoanalysis from a critical social clinical psychology and feminist perspective; she researches and conducts studies on discrimination, ageing, sexuality, and death. She has taught courses on social psychology, gender psychology, and human sexuality, served as an advisor for master’s theses in clinical psychology, and led workshops on ageing.
In terms of therapeutic approach and technique, she practices psychoanalytic psychotherapy and sex therapy with adults. She is a research assistant in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Dicle University. She is a member of TODAP and CETAD.
Aslı Aydemir was arrested on July 4, 2025, on the grounds that she had protested an attack on LeMan’s (humour magazine) office in Beyoğlu on charges of “resisting the performance of official duties”.
