Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi is a political activist, writer, and one of the signatories of the letter from 14 civil activists in Iran calling for the resignation of the Supreme Leader and political reforms in the country. Due to his activism, he has been arrested and imprisoned multiple times, receiving a lengthy prison sentence. In addition to his civil activism, Vahedian is known for his defense of human rights and is a prominent critic of the Iranian government.

Recent case update / evolution

Mr. Vahidiyan has been sentenced to a total of 21 years in prison by two branches in two separate cases. In one case, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad. This sentence became final due to Mr. Vahidiyan Shahroodi's failure to appeal. Additionally, in a subsequent ruling, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad.
