Sayed Ahmadi Hossaini is a former social worker from Bamyan, Afghanistan, who was actively involved in protecting women at risk. After the fall of the Afghan government in August 2021, he was violently detained by the Taliban for his work in providing shelter and support to a young woman facing forced marriage. He endured severe physical abuse, including beatings and burns, and was repeatedly threatened. Following his release, he fled Afghanistan and travelled through one of the neighbouring countries, where he currently lives in precarious conditions, facing ongoing risks and uncertainty.
